Welcome to Electric Monarch where our flight path is led by our visionary Founder and CEO, Heather Monthie, PhD, CFI – a seasoned pilot, educator, and tech expert. Dr. Monthie’s lifelong passion for aviation, technology, and education has propelled her to remarkable heights in both fields.
Dr. Monthie founded Electric Monarch in July 2020. She had previously owned and operated Aura Aviation Services from 1999 to 2015, offering a suite of aviation services from flight instruction to aerial photography and public safety support. From 2015 to 2021, she shifted her career trajectory to advance STEM education at a prominent university, a role she relishes as a cornerstone of her career.
The unforeseen downtime during the 2020 pandemic became a launchpad for Dr. Monthie to reinvigorate her aviation services under the banner of Electric Monarch. With a keen eye on the growing field of unmanned aerial systems (UAS), emerging aviation technologies, and evolving FAA regulations, Electric Monarch’s mission is to guide and support drone entrepreneurs through regulatory compliance, digital marketing strategy, cybersecurity, and business growth strategies.
Dr. Monthie extends her knowledge through various channels, including her podcast and YouTube channel, making aviation and drone business education accessible to all.
Moreover, Dr. Monthie recognizes the transformative power of drone technology in education, especially as its cost becomes increasingly accessible. In 2019, she established Educators Who Drone, a global online community dedicated to empowering teachers, parents, pilots, and STEM advocates to integrate drones into educational curricula.

Dr. Monthie has worked in the technology education field since 2003, working with students aged 5-65+. She has earned Full Professor status and worked as a Dean and Vice-President in higher education.
